Report: How Twitter Users Discuss Mental Health Issues

People are becoming more vocal about mental health issues on social media, and this year, Twitter users posted 65 percent more mental-health-related resolutions than in 2015. According to the National Institute for Mental Health, 18 percent of the American population suffers from some form of mental illness.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and PsychGuides.com used Twitter’s application-programming interface to search for mental-health-related hashtags and terms to find out which people use most and the sentiment of mental health conversations on the platform.

According to the report, #MentalHealth and #EndTheStigma were among the most popular hashtags related to mental health.
