The closest thing to a sure bet the delightfully deranged investors of Reddit's r/wallstreetbets have ever seen is a 29-year-old New Yorker responsible for some of its most creative content. Redditor haupt91, who requested to remain anonymous since he works in the trading industry, is responsible for 50 percent of the top 10 r/wallstreetbets posts in May thanks to a series of videos combining footage from the National Dog Show with images and text sneering at America's shameless consumerism.

There's no hidden agenda. I think the reaction to my videos is a reflection of society's itch to knock these companies down a peg,” haupt91 told me. “My inspiration is always to make fun of something going on in the stock market. I try to find a scene of a movie or a news segment that parallels what's happening in the stock market.”

Haupt91’s videos have become a mainstay on r/wallstreetbets due to the community’s irreverence and shaky financial acuity. Launched on Jan. 31, 2012, r/wallstreetbets is “like Bloomberg found a 4chan terminal,” as it states in its official description. The subreddit has more than 562,609 subscribers who have become infamous for their huge, life-changing bets on the stock market that have gained the attention of Money Magazine and Vice over the years.

“It's where we come to laugh at, cheer on, and cry for average people throwing piles of money on options or penny stocks in an attempt to become rich overnight,” haupt91 said. “There are legends made and destroyed on wallstreetbets.”

Haupt91’s r/wallstreetbets legend has grown thanks to producing videos specifically for the amateur and professional stock trader alike. None of the videos, like one from May 10 using "Good Will Hunting's" famous bar scene, have sound and all have subtitles so they can be watched at work, he said. Haupt91's made nearly 40 videos so far. Each took about two hours to make.

Haupt91’s videos have gotten so popular, he’s asked people to donate money ordinarily spent on Reddit coins, a way for people to reward “exemplary posts or comments” and support the site, to a GoFundMe campaign he started on behalf of Ronald McDonald House Charities. He’s raised $465 so far.

These are haupt91’s top five posts from May. Some contain foul language.
