Facebook is going after the niche currently occupied by craigslist and eBay with the launch of its newest feature, Marketplace.

Facebook is going after the niche currently occupied by craigslist and eBay with the launch of its newest feature, Marketplace.

Over the next few days, users of Facebook’s iPhone and Android applications in the U.S., U.K., Australia and New Zealand (18 and older) will begin seeing a shop icon at the bottom of their apps, which will lead them to Marketplace, where they can browse items that have been listed for sale nearby, or list their own.

Director of product management Mary Ku introduced Marketplace in a Newsroom post:
