Facebook is reportedly set to launch an Instant Games platform for its Facebook Messenger application, allowing users to play “lightweight” games against their friends.

Tom Dotan of The Information reported that the social network is already privately testing Instant Games, which would allow Messenger users to play “asynchronous” games with friends, where they take turns and are not playing at the same time.

Facebook dabbled in similar games for Messenger earlier this year with its launch of a basketball game in March and soccer game Keepy Up on Messenger in June.

Josh Constine of TechCrunch reported that King is already testing an Instant Game called Shuffle Cats Mini in New Zealand (the page can apparently be accessed only by users in New Zealand), and he speculated that other studios, including Big Viking Games, are also preparing for the feature’s launch.

Facebook declined to comment on the reports.
