Although we all thought Facebook organic reach to be near dead, we’re starting to see the first signs of improvement in years. Additionally, Pinterest is once again putting pressure on Google when it comes to discoverability and search, and in case you think all Live video is the same across every social platform, we have created a live video guide to clear up confusion – all in this week’s edition of Social You Should Know.

Is Organic Reach Improving?

Our analysts here have studied organic Facebook reach since we opened our doors here nearly 10 years ago. Nearly every time we studied organic reach, we reported declines. Yet recently, they just released a study that shows some signs of organic reach improvement on Facebook. Make sure you read the full study here to see how this may impact your metrics, and to see what type of post on Facebook gets the most organic reach.

Pinterest adds 3 New Features to Improve Search, Discovery

Watch out, Google – Pinterest is amping up its search game by adding several new features. “Shop the Look” feature allows users to find and jump to additional products within a photo they’re currently viewing. “Lens”, currently in beta, is a new visual search tool where a user can point to a real object using the Pinterest mobile app and it will return objects on Pinterest it believes are related. This could create an interesting interplay between in-store and online shopping. Finally, “Instant Ideas” allows a user to tap on a white circle on the bottom right corner of a pin to easily see similar trends.

Live Video Comparison

With the increasing importance of live video, and increasing channels that support it – our very own Sara O’Keefe has put together a handy side-by-side comparison of live video platforms. This will help you easily see which platforms offer paid support, which platforms support a longer shelf-life for these videos, and which ones support more engagement during the video through live reactions and engagements. It’s important to note that live video is intentionally different across platforms because each platform is trying to differentiate the user experience a bit.

Speaking of live video, our team was live at the Go Red For Women™ Red Dress Collection 2017 presented by Macy’s last week. Check out the Facebook Live video for this amazing client if you have a moment.
