Once it’s set up on your site, users can log in using their Google, AOL, Yahoo, or OpenID account…no need to create another username and password. Currently it only offers a few “gadgets&# but I’m sure it will be rolling out more down the road.

However, I believe that there would most likely be a way for Google to identify the sites using Open ID 2.0. For example, they could actually identify the sites using it–and then contact the site owners using Google Webmaster Tools. April 20, 2015: OpenID is shut down. Don’t forget to add me on Google+.

Sites like these usually have their own private groups for the contributors to the blog, which is definitely a great idea. Or, you can even include direct links to the post on social sites or add your preferred tweet text in the group. For example, if I were to have a list for promoting posts on my own site, it would look like this.

We need to take the granular controls that sites like Facebook provide, and put them in the browser. I would specify which sites I give permission to have my data – name, address, phone number, email, location data, etc. Or maybe just a few sites become disabled. Facebook or Google? There is a solution though.

The extension, or in some cases native browser functionality, seeks to give users the option of completely turning off the ability for sites to track a user around the web, removing any personalization of ads and in some cases the removal of ads completely from the browsing experience. Or maybe just a few sites become disabled.

Summit feeling excited about the prospects of OpenID and Government 2.0 , I was also left asking myself things like, “that’s great that OpenID is coming to the government, but now what?
