YouTube worked for BlendTec, but it might not work for your company. Experiment with Flickr and/or YouTube groups to build media for specific events. Start a community group on Facebook or Ning or MySpace or LinkedIn around the space where your customer does business. Social media isn’t always the right tool for the job.

I’ve seen Intellipedia , TSA’s Evolution of Security blog , DoDLive , the DoD’s Blogger’s Roundtable , FEMA’s YouTube channel , GovLoop , and many other examples of “Government 2.0.&# I’ve also seen plenty of failed blogs, dormant wikis, and other failed attempts at using social media.
