Social media connections are those I know through a variety of online forums, the blogosphere, Twitter, and the like (but I generally don’t befriend someone immediately; I still give it time). The Irony: MySpace Okay, so in my previous paragraph, I mention that you should be an early adopter of social networks.

Later, several other websites such as Classmates.com and Friendster contributed to the development of social networking to help reach our present day scenario, where we see the domination of Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Google+. Current social networks in the growth stage are Twitter and Facebook.

Twitter as a tool to communicate during conferences. After attending SMX (I’ll post something on that soon) and SES NY, I realized that Twitter is a useful tool for conferencegoers to communicate their whereabouts or to share breaking news and announcements. Similarly, Michael Twittered during SES in April.

Facebook is like MySpace. As I alluded to earlier, MySpace and Friendster were viable Facebook clones, but only one had a smooth and responsive interface that allowed users to interact with each other with ease. Facebook is like Classmates.com. Facebook is like Friendster. In the last few months alone, that usage intensified.
