What are the best free tools for analyzing a Twitter profile? During a social media audit I like to run a company’s Twitter profiles through some basic analysis tools to set benchmarks and compare them to competitors. I got good response to my post on Facebook analytics tools so I thought I’d do something similar for Twitter.

Social monitoring tools like Radian6 and PR suites like Vocus and Cision offer the greatest range of functionality for research and contact management. However utilizing enterprise-level tools is not always an option for smaller organizations, or even large ones with budget constraints. Each tool is free unless otherwise noted.

There are many different Twitter analysis tools out there but I’ve seen Twitalyzer mentioned several times recently so I decided to try it out. Please accept the usual caveats about the accuracy of the data, methodology of the tool, etc. This has an impact on the way the various metrics are calculated. 2,461,060 2 @cnnbrk 77.3%

But it is possible to make some basic comparisons using data from some of the free tools that are available.
