Pentagon Will Track Social Media Movements, Memes – earlier this week a lot of folks were creeped out that the government was tracking things on social media along with memes. – this is an interesting look at the sudden onslaught of social media agencies popping up left and right. I actually think that this is pretty damn smart.

The new algorithm will only post content that is relevant to the end-user, meaning users get the content they care about, not the content that games the Edgerank by hopping on memes or posting cute babies or puppies (if you want more details, you can click here , here or here ). Oh yeah, Mashable said it was cool. Am I right?

Number two on this week’s list takes a look at how many companies track and respond to feedback on social media… it is not high… only 49% in this study responded to feedback… what are we in 2008? While it would be easy to jump into the fray and replace Facebook for Simpsons in the old “ Simpsons did it ” meme, I won’t. If the name sounds familiar, it should since it is something that Facebook has shared with marketers for years. or to see who on their network is truly engaged with them.
