September saw some great social media updates for marketers. Here are the most important updates you should be aware of to improve your social media marketing for your business:

Facebook

Facebook Pages: Facebook Pages have become more mobile friendly to help businesses build bigger mobile audiences and better communicate with their customers. This update includes better call-to-action buttons, new sections in which to feature prominent information, and better page layout.

Instagram

Instagram Ads Now Available to All BusinessesThis is big! Starting this month, advertisers both large and small can run campaigns on Instagram. It uses some of the best features of Facebook’s ad structure to make it easier than ever for advertisers to target their audiences on Instagram. Access new and improved ad formats to achieve your marketing objectives:

  • Landscape photo and video to unlock new creative opportunities and give ads a more cinematic feel;
    Video ads of up to 30 seconds in length, so brands can engage in richer storytelling.

Twitter

Twitter Removes Share Counts and Redesigns Its Buttons: Twitter has redesigned Tweet and Follow buttons and is dropping the share count – the displayed number of times a tweet has been shared – sometime in October. (People are really upset about this. I agree).

Old buttons on the left. Newly designed buttons on the right:

Sell Directly on Twitter:  That’s right, you can now sell directly on Twitter using the Buy Now button through Twitter’s e-commerce partnerships that will make it easier for retailers of any size to sell products, digital goods, or services directly within a Tweet via the Buy Now button.

Go to these Partners for more information: Bigcommerce, Demandware, Shopify, Stripe or Twitter advises to reach out to your Twitter account representative and visit Twitter’s Buy Now Page for further information. Buy Now is currently only available to U.S. merchants.
