While giving a webinar, Managing the Risks of Social Media , for Higher Logic , I got an unexpected question: “Why do we need a social media policy?” They are already on Facebook, LinkedIn and Flickr. My first thought was Duh! Of course you need a social media policy. Don’t just publish the guidelines and expect people to follow them.

Open Community Case Study – GoPlow

They seeded the site with 12 issues of magazine content and repurposed webinar clips. They cross-post content to LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. Two of them manage Facebook, two manage LinkedIn (including the ED), two manage Twitter (mostly Brian and the ED), and the three of them plus the editor manage day-to-day GoPlow activity.
