Vote In Or Out Social Media Platform Allows Users To Test Political Issues

This article is more than 3 years old.

A new political social media site looks to involve American voters in the opinions and fact checking process by allowing them to set their own “thumbs up or down” polls. The nonpartisan effort asks all voters, regardless of alignment, to “Be the change you seek.”

Users at Vote in or Out are invited to build ballots — simple yes or not, up or down propositions asking if other users support or oppose an idea. The ballots are arranged and dispersed across the political spectrum in an effort to prevent the social media platform from deliberately leaning too left or too right.

The minds behind Vote in or Out stress their intention is voter education and truth in media: “We organize folks around issues to make sure everything gets fact checked and saved for election day.” While the ballot proposals are simple and straightforward, the political social media user is invited to check into the history, factual background and validity of the issue on his or her own.

The user is asked to “oppose” or “support” a number of proposals, using a simple up or down voting system. The issues are chosen by users, and they can set up their own ballets as long as they fall within the site’s guidelines. For example, a ballot proposing that President Donald Trump is any number of pejorative terms is beneath the intellectual intention of the site and would presumably not last long in practice.

Depending on the given political issue and whether the ballot is worded to support or oppose, the vote can hold a conservative/progressive or Republican/Democrat focus. The user chooses to support or oppose, while the ballots to choose from are spread out to avoid consistent bias.

A perusal of ballots asks users if they oppose “...Trump is spinning a false narrative on what is causing Covid deaths.” Another invites support for ... “Biden condemns violence in Portland and challenges Trump to do the same.”
