Just before the end of last year, my email box was inundated by newsletters filled with articles & posts like “The Top 50 Facebook Posts of 2010” and “Top 20 Most Useful Twitter Blog Posts of 2010.” They all seemed to be obsessed with ‘pimping out’ their Facebook and/or Twitter page. I took a screen shot on my iPhone.

With user-friendly icons on the bottom of the corporate website, their catchy-phrased blog , Facebook page , Twitter page @TheBestWestern , and YouTube channel are interactive and engaging. The Four Seasons arrives in second place for me, because of small-font Twitter and Facebook text and icons near the bottom. Have a look.

During this time my many computers sat idol, my iPhone received a much needed break, my thumbs took a mini vacation, and I spent uninterrupted time with my family and friends over the holiday weekend. Twitter was the first to see me disappear. Like my return to Twitter, time will tell what I do. I wonder why he stopped.

Keeping afloat the ocean of new technology isn’t cheap, and there ARE drawbacks to lacking the fancy schmancy iPads and iPhones and iWhatever-the-Heck-Else people are using these days. We met the iPhone in 2007; three years later came the iPad. Is this new technology being made affordable for all? Social Implications.

Facebook, Twitter, and other online networking sites allow small businesses to reach millions of customers with little to no cost to operate a fan or business page. Nowadays though, the big companies are getting better and better imitating the strengths of the small ones but doing one better with lower costs and better advertising.

I visited stores and felt different phones, but I really wanted a qwerty keyboard which is why I didn’t buy the iPhone; the G2 has a slide-out keyboard in addition to the screen keys.
