One of the hot trends in social media these days are the crop of sites that are claiming to measure ones social media influence. Sites like Klout , PeerIndex , and up and comer Empire Avenue all have unique ways in which they measure your social influence based on a variety of factors. And I’m currently going for $25.85

I work in social media, and my Klout score has absolutely ZERO influence on the clients I work with, obtain, or my career path quite frankly. A Klout score in and of itself is not enough to truly measure ones social influence. Most of us are all influencers in our lives one way or another. have been common responses.

On one hand I get that one’s “influence” can fluctuate based on the contributions they make to the digital world, but the real question is, should it that much over a short period? It’s just one of many ways to measure one’s online influence, but anyone that says it doesn’t matter is kidding themselves. Related posts: Social Influence.

Great teachers who make a positive influence in kids’ lives are heroes. People are heroic in how they positively impact, influence and make the world a better place for others. I’m talking about how the media and society so easily label people as heroes that don’t warrant it. Firefighters are heroes. Police Officers are heroes.

Increasing my distribution, influence and reach. Also, by having your content on respected, relevant channels in addition to your own, you inherently increase your influence and reputation by being associated with other experts in the same industry. So why would I be willing to just serve it up for free? It’s a win-win in my book.
