It's that time of the year: when people across the country line up in droves to blow their hard-earned bucks on televisions and refrigerators during Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales. But the smartest Americans are spending their money on experiences, not things. There couldn't be a better time to book travel for the year ahead.
During the week around Black Friday and Cyber Monday, the travel industry goes on sale. Alanna Smith, editor at deal site TravelPirates, says that travelers can save as much as 55% on hotels, tours, vacation packages and more. The best day to score a flight deal is November 27, which has been nicknamed Travel Deal Tuesday , according to Hopper, an app that uses data to predict and analyze airfares. And many other discounts are even extending beyond Travel Deal Tuesday.
A word of advice: Most sales are only available for a short timeframe and for travel during a specific window. Be sure to check the fine print for other restrictions like minimum stays, black-out dates, upfront payments and nonrefundable rates. (And keep in mind that the details listed below are based on available information; you should verify all rates and booking information with the individual provider.)

Saint Lucia
Hotels across Saint Lucia in the Caribbean have teamed up to create island-wide deals throughout the month of November. You'll find sales like 65% off rates at The Landings Resort & Spa, 50% off at Marigot Bay Resort & Marina and 30% off some rooms at Sugar Beach, A Viceroy Resort. In addition, the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority has partnered with American Airlines Vacations for a secret sale: Consumers will learn about the discount upon booking. This one is an early-bird special. All-business-class airline La Compagnie is already offering a Blue Friday promotion, with roundtrip fares between New York and Paris for only $1,200. The sale began on Friday, November 16 and goes through Tuesday, November 20, 2018. Travelers can book flights on trips starting now through 2019, and experience the airline's new fleet, making its grand debut in spring 2019.
Turkish Airlines
Turkish Airlines will launch a “Friday Flyday” promotion on November 23, 2018. Passengers that shop on Turkish Airlines Friday Flyday will be able to purchase base fares at a special discounted rate. The 24-hour sale is only available online in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, and Argentina, and is scheduled to begin at 00:00 local time in each destination. Tickets purchased are valid for travel from November 23, 2018 to May 15, 2019, with a maximum stay of four months.
Other Airlines
Some airlines (Delta, United, Ryanair) have already started offering discounts on flights and vacation packages for Black Friday. British Airways has already announced that its Black Friday sale starts on Thanksgiving. Other airlines are expected to start posting Black Friday deals a day or two before Thanksgiving. A number of airlines will also be participating in Travel Deal Tuesday. Look for deals from Icelandair, Cathay Pacific, South African Airways, Philippine Airlines and more.
