You might have used one in the past. I’m talking about the free web-based website hosts. decided to shut the site down – for good. And all those people who had websites hosted by Geocities had to move their sites, or lose them. Some of these web-based hosts provide services like analytics, a blog platform, forum add-ons, and their sites even show up in the search engine rankings so the SEO is good. It costs less than $20 per year for a domain name and less than $15 per month for good hosting. Don’t use the free web hosts.

Apparently the new addition only covers WordPress.com hosted blogs and not self hosted blogs. Anyone that goes to the trouble of self hosting a blog typically is serious about their blogging. Most of the successful and lasting blogs you find online are self hosted. But to not include and factor self hosted blogs is a serious miss on Klout’s part.

And at least I’m not alone in a hosting slip-up, considering Disney managed to forget to renew the Club Penguin domain and leave several million users without a site!
