Hootsuite vs Tweetdeck: I’m Going Owl The Way

For quite some time Tweetdeck was my preferred choice when it came to social media management software. I’ve typically chosen software based solutions over web based ones for speed and performance when it comes to high touch computing. And for awhile Tweetdeck was meeting my needs, but I just grew increasingly more frustrated with performance issues with the Adobe Air platform. It certainly doesn’t suffer from the slow downs I experienced with Tweetdeck. So here is my short list of things so far that have me loving Hootsuite vs Tweetdeck: Tabs – Love the tabs.

I wrote a post about the potential of Twitter to buy TweetDeck just two weeks ago. (To be fair, that first posted on my employer’s blog.). So what happens now? A lot of doom and gloom if you believe the people over at TechCrunch (they also broke the story that a deal was done between TweetDeck and Twitter on Monday). I don’t buy the doom and gloom declaring the end of TweetDeck.

It can be used as your only Twitter client, but as I still favour Tweetdeck for that, I primiarly use it to schedule tweets. Hootsuite makes it easy to do this by providing a handy widget called the Hootlet.

While I have a column for my DMs setup in Hootsuite, it’s really just for the rare chance that I may actually catch a legitimate message here and there.
