Towards the end of last week, I stumbled across an awesome initiative from the Jimmy Fund that will allow folks addicted to social media to put their time behind the keyboard to a good use. Are we as a culture addicted to social media? Speaking for myself, yes, I’m addicted to social media for sure!

As you begin to put your social media plan into action , perhaps the biggest thing that you need to do aside from the rollout is to establish what you are measuring. Tools like CoTweet, Hootsuite and Tweetstats allow you to measure these things.

Why more celebrities and public figures are turning to social media – while not surprising I find the phenomenon of celebrities hopping on social networks to drop news or updates to their fans fascinating. What the world really needs at this point in time is another search engine… especially one powered by M.C.

Fast forward to today, as many of you know an Amazon cloud went down and mucked up a lot of heavy hitters in the social space including foursquare, Hootsuite and Livefyre. Now I use many of these services, but did not receive or expect to receive notification of the issue or how it impacted my by any of these companies.
