Hosting an event is just the beginning of its life-cycle. Tip: Keep the hashtag short and simple, and make sure you have it displayed at the event so the audience knows to participate. Tip: If you’re hosting a speaker, film their session and edit it down to quick, digestible takeaways post-event.

While I didn’t intend for it to be an inadvertent lesson in “how to do a virtual event,” a Facebook Live Q&A I hosted a couple of weeks ago was, apparently, just that. Yet when we are all going to have to live, and work, and live, in a virtual world for the foreseeable future, not doing this is also not an option.

We host, and participate in, Twitter chats. Participate in #measurePR , the Twitter chat I host every other week. We’re not mean people.

A couple of weeks ago, I co-hosted the monthly #PRSSA Twitter chat. That’s the hashtag commonly-used by PRSSA (the Public Relations Student Society of America). One of ’em was even doing a Storify of the chat as we co-hosted it – LIVE! These kids don’t mess around. Sure, they have genetics on their side.

To keep the conversation going RPS hosts #WhatstheFineWednesday. As the hashtag suggests, every Wednesday they ask their followers what the fine is for a particular infraction. • Some emergency personnel give teddy bears to children at traumatic events, do you? • Are there laws about keeping exotic pets in the city?
