So when I got an invitation from the Boston Red Sox to visit their home offices for a Twitter focus group, I could not have said yes quickly enough. The Sox’ social media team asked the focus group of their Twitter community what we liked, what we didn’t and what they could do better. We discussed the event that we had just attended.

Maybe I am just naïve or worked in sports for too long, but I firmly believe in the saying that you play for the name on the crest not the name on the back. Screw Your Brand – Now I am not sure if this is legal in the 50 states, but I will defer to the lawyers on the legality of it.

Target's PR issue

The outrage from the two groups stems from Target donating $150,000 to a business group backing Minnesota Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Emmer. Politics is a dicey sport and for every good point for a politician, there are equally negative ones that can be found and exploited.
