I am fascinated by the amount of social networks that I’m part of, but better yet, I’m intrigued to find that I assume different “personas,&# at least in terms of choosing friends (and using the networks), on each social site.

Asking this group of users to go from this to using a wiki was a gigantic step that they weren’t ready to take. Before rolling out ANY type of social media application, whether it’s blogs, or a wiki, or microblogging, make sure that you do an assessment of your user culture first. Enjoy the conference!

It’s not enough to be insular and focus on your groups of friends. You may find people who are surfing outside your social circle who might be potentially interested in your products. At business networking events, try to get to know people outside your group of trusted colleagues. not so much sports fans).

Like most search engines and social networks, YouTube uses a variety of elements to determine the placement of your video in search results. Use categories YouTube uses categories to group videos into broad topics, like “Sports” or “Technology”. Of course, this assumes you already have an active blog.)

I learn about these new blogs mostly outside the “social&# space because they do the hand-holding from start to finish, and as such, they often cater to a wider audience. This is the kind of content that spreads beyond the typical blog reader to an entirely different group of people. It’s just impossible to do.

Kevin says that earlier this evening, he hosted a focus group at Digg to beta test some new features to be rolled out in the future.
