Unbeknownst to most of us is the fact that we’re getting played because someone knows how to play the game of driving eyeballs to a site that isn’t about quality content as much as it is about trying to get you to click on Google adsense boxes. And that my friends is the problem-at least for the majority of us.

Recently we were doing some work for a very prominent client where in the analysis of brand mentions we had to sort through thousands, yes thousands, of useless pages of content on websites that were set up as splogs to drive better search results around pages geared towards Google Adwords. I look at the URL under each search result.

A Google doc that lists all of the known Twitter chats. YOURLS is a small set of PHP scripts that will allow you to run your own URL shortening service ( a la TinyURL). You can make it private or public, you can pick custom keyword URLs, and it comes with its own API.
