Appetas announced today they were acquired by Google. Clearly they had a successful product to have been acquired by Google, and I’m sure there is a place for this sort of product in the market. While using platforms like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc., Great for them, not so much for their customers.

Quickly and easily you can see Google Pagerank, Alexa, Compete, and a variety of other data points. Tweetdeck – I know most of those reading will know of Tweetdeck, but I have to add this to my list as I’ve tried practically all of the different Twitter apps, and in my opinion Tweetdeck just seems to work out the best.

Hell, even I’m guilty of over saturating my twitter feed with social media tweets. Automate Twitter – Many people immediately balk at the idea of using tools that automate some of the tasks with Twitter. I see Twitter as a tool that can work in a variety of different ways for people. Worth every penny, hands down.

Tweetie 2 – In my opinion, the crown jewel of Twitter iPhone apps. Synchs with Google Reader seamlessly, and I can easily stay up to date on my fav blogs. LinkedIn – Their first version was pretty lame, but the most recent update brings the app into usable form. Slick interface, easy to use, and a front pager for me.

Just take a look at how many Twitter users “claim&# their authority on the subject. An alternative to start with is simply using free tools like SocialMention.com or Google Analytics.

In comparison, Twitter comes in at 14% and Facebook at 9%. Direct traffic and Google account for the majority of the rest. It wasn’t until recently however that I realized the potential of utilizing Linked In Groups to drive blog traffic. Ever since doing so, roughly 20% of my blog traffic comes from Linked In.

Based on these figures, Linked In is where I’m attracted my strongest audience followed closely by Twitter. Yes, I’ve read Google’s documentation, etc. In this table we have the top 10 sources of traffic including time spent on the site and bounce rate. That’s a rhetorical question, by the way. )
