Klout just keeps getting better. Among the services that Klout now tracks are: Tumblr – A blogging platform somewhat like a cross between Twitter and Blogger. Last.fm – A site for uploading and sharing your favorite music. Instagram - A photo sharing site for the iPhone. What about you?

A recent Pew Internet report found that two-thirds of adult Internet users are using a social networking site; other studies have noted the growing use of social media for marketing purposes. Klout measures people’s social media influence by analyzing how the content they create drives online trends and user action.

Citing privacy concerns and not wanting strangers to know where I was every moment I checked in to a location, I deleted my Foursquare account 14 months ago. Forrester Research recently surveyed 37,000 mobile users and in its report issued this month, a mere 2% of those users had Foursquare accounts. My past caught up with me.

Facebook expands Lookalike Audiences to let advertisers target people who use their sites, apps, or Pages – now advertisers using Lookalike Audiences can target users who visit their websites, use their mobile apps, or are connected to their Facebook Pages (The Next Web). If you ask me what my Klout score is …I’ll likely vomit. They use numbers like “friends”, “followers” and…ewww…”Klout” to determine whether they are doing social right. I don’t engage in Black Hat SEO to try to artificially inflate visits to my site. ABSOLUTELY!

Like a lot of people, I’m registered on both Klout and Peerindex , which both attempt to track my online influence in slightly different ways to give one overall score which can be compared to others in my areas of interest. So are you on Klout, Peerindex and Empire Avenue? Measuring influence or just tracking loyalty?

But like the other sites, it's also a social network itself. By linking your social activity from other sites, you see your net worth rise more quickly. That's a much more realistic and informative way to gauge influence, rather than a simple one-dimensional score such as Klout. Yes, that's an actual term.
