Klout bills itself as a social media influence metric, but until now it was largely limited in how it measured influence. Moments is something like the Facebook Timeline, but it takes “your most important content” from all of the networks Klout measures and adds it to your profile. I actually rather like this idea.

I’m being challenged to a battle of egos by a stranger on Twitter: “@pierreloic your Klout Score is 33 (I’m a 51). Check out your @klout profile today.”. She’s after all “a 63″ and the Klout resident expert on all things bacon and Kim Kardashian. As a result, they could lead to ill-informed business decisions.

Like a lot of people, I’m registered on both Klout and Peerindex , which both attempt to track my online influence in slightly different ways to give one overall score which can be compared to others in my areas of interest. Tancredi, headphones and promo information all via Peerindex. and Flickr.

All I could think of is just how cool it would be if I could upload that information and look at other road trips that I had taken to see some averages and cumulative data. What if I could share this information with friends and family? The Klout effect. foursquare. It wasn't enough. What if I could compare road trips.

By rewarding people with positive reinforcement for actions taken - much like Foursquare has become synonymous with - Empire Avenue uses a system of Achievements to recognize your progress. That's a much more realistic and informative way to gauge influence, rather than a simple one-dimensional score such as Klout.
