At the opening party for a machinima film festival, Jose Marques, a Portuguese venture capitalist friend, sent me an invite to Gmail. But Tweetdeck ! Often, friends from the “real” world gave me passage to the social media world. This resulted in the account which became the basis for my Google+ account.

xx has added xx film to their Lovefilm account. If there is something you really want to share, then take an additional 2 minutes, log into Tweetdeck and pen a 140 update that adds some value. You know the ones: xx has uploaded a video on YouTube. xx has checkedin on Foursquare. It’s lazy and annoying. But all of them, really?

So, we filmed a thank you song incorporating their names into the lyrics and basing it on a cool guitar groove. Also, use social monitoring tools like TweetDeck , to see if somebody mentions your blog or retweets your posts. Broaden your circle of acquaintances to people who share your passion for writing and online publication.

What also appealed about Greg’s book is that it read just like my Tweetdeck group of smart minds in the biz: Shel Israel, Scott Monty, Steve Garfield, Susan Reynolds, David Armano, Chris Brogan, Stacy Debroff, Katja Presnal, and Shiv Singh all come up in various forms, to name just a few respected folks that caught my eye.

For instance, having written about some of the different inputs that are helping me create better work , I fired up Tweetdeck today, and the first thing I saw was @Documentally tweeting a link to his own take on a same subject. And as someone with a young child and a corresponding diet of animated films, this also really stood out.

But do you think, maybe, it had something to do with the fact they were watching their Tweetdeck more than the panel?
