Subsequent to April 2015 marking my 10-year anniversary on the social networking site, I drastically spent less time adding content to my profile and more time following others and interacting with them; and joining and participating in groups. To be fair, I haven’t stayed off the sites completely as I’d been working for a nonprofit agency and created accounts on both social networking sites. I’ve tweeted and facebooked under the agency’s name, but in my mind my sabbatical has remained true for I haven’t updated my own feeds.

I find this the most useful Twitter tool out there. Provide interesting content! This is both the most difficult and most important rule. Pay attention to the top Twitter users.

What this means is if we’re friends on the site, either you’re appearing in the news feed or you’re not, depending how strongly you care about me. When you consider some people share Facebook links on Twitter and others share Twitter links on Pinterest, each site is not its own ecosystem anymore.
