Facebook Testing Ability for Users to Post to News Feed But Not Timeline

Facebook is testing a way to allow users to post to News Feed without those posts ever appearing in their Timelines.

Matt Elliott of CNET shared the screenshot below, in which a “Hide From Your Timeline” option appeared in his status update composer, and a popup read:

Create Posts Just for News Feed: Now you can create posts that only show up in News Feed and search results. They won’t show up in your Timeline.

Facebook users always had the option of removing posts from their Timelines via Activity Log, but if this feature is rolled out widely, that step would be unnecessary.

A Facebook spokesperson confirmed the test in an email to SocialTimes:

The Timeline on your profile is a great place to see a comprehensive history of your Facebook posts.
