RSS does continue to drive traffic (at least, my Feedburner stats seem to indicate that) but as I look at my own statistics to see where people are arriving on my sites from, the percentage of those coming from RSS/Feedburner seems to be on the decline. It works really well integrating with Google Adsense , Feedburner for RSS tracking, and a few other Google features (including any Google Gadget, as I mentioned above), but some obvious Google products have not been integrated. The transition from custom Wordpress to Blogger is horrible for SEO! I say this with an asterisk.

Permalinks – By default WordPress numbers all posts so your links looks like this joshspeters.com/123 which isn’t very descriptive or useful for SEO. It’s incredibly versatile, has built in SEO features and a “drag and drop&# design editor. I changed the URL structure a little to make it more SEO friendly.

It is a general consensus among SEO’s that Google will count only one link to the same URL per page. Mistake #7: Letting Feedburner Steal Your Links. If you are using Feedburner as your RSS feed management provider and have never changed their default settings, your CommentLuv links are most likely being stolen by them.

My feed jumped from 8,500 to over 11,500 according to Feedburner. At first I assumed it was a bug, but it has stayed this way for over a week so I’ll assume everything is working as it should (Feedburner usually drops, not increases). As for Feedburner: every day my feed count changes by 1-2k.
