A recent Facebook update changed how brands are able to get content onto users’ news feeds. or updates from professional groups and companies that I love (Under Armour, Samuel Adams and Jimmy Fund) in my feed. What I hate, and I am sure you will agree, are the cheap jump on the bandwagon or meme posts. The answer is No.

The Animal Rescue Site – While I still don’t remember liking this page, they show up in my feed at least 5X a day. They typically pop up in my feed at least one time a day.

PostRank – This nifty plugin rates your posts on engagement, sharing and some other variables and was recently acquired by Google. It also asks folks if they would like to subscribe to your RSS feed. It has also increased the time spent on the site. It can also be turned off after a certain number of views.

A conference is what you make it

Instead of looking around and making connections, many conference attendees were too busy peering down at their smartphones, iPads or laptops, worrying that they were missing out on a party or meet-up that would surely be in their social feed or hashtagged #SXSWAWESOME. The social media community is actually pretty small.
