To take advantage of the Google Reader downtime they’ve turned off free accounts (which didn’t allow more than 64 feeds) so this may come back in the future. Netvibes – they’ve been around for as long as I can remember, so it should give you some hope they’ll be sticking around.

You can see how many people are subscribing to your RSS feed and from which sources, and if you use the new Google Analytics integration, you can see how many clicks each individual post is getting from feed readers. 15,000 views on Youtube in one day? You can never have too many backups. No problem.

I use netvibes personally. I still cant believe this functionality hasnt been integrated into (all) readers. You dont need to use a third-party online feed filtering service on the Mac. I recommend NetNewsWire, a free desktop feed reader that will filter all of your subscriptions simultaneously using "Smart Lists".
