To keep on top of friends’ happenings on the network, I subscribed to the relevant updates. I now have status updates in my feed, and finally, I can see both happy and sad news.

The SXSW Twitter feed helped many communicate with each other and even allowed for individuals to meet for the first time. Twitter as a feed reader (for more important feeds). subscribe to nearly 150 feeds and have no systematic way of reading them ( unlike Robert Scoble ). Sometimes, I’ll read the noisier (and most frequently updated) feeds first so I can tune into the more important feeds later. If you have a software application and people follow your product, by all means, set up a Twitter feed and let your users subscribe!

Facebook hopes to catch clickbait  in the algorithm net it is using to clean up its News Feed. Research scientist Alex Peysakhovich and user experience researcher Kristin Hendrix detailed the latest change to the social network’s News Feed algorithm in a Newsroom post , saying that the tweak was a response to feedback from users. They described the update to Facebook’s News Feed algorithm as follows: We’ve heard from people that they specifically want to see fewer stories with clickbait headlines or link titles. The latest News Feed can be confusing if you are friends with a lot of people but only want to really keep an eye on certain people. Once you have added friends that you want to follow, you can simply view your custom list in the News Feed, hiding all of the updates by those who you have befriended but don’t necessarily want to follow closely. Hide people or apps that annoy you in the News Feed by hovering over the item and clicking Hide and selecting your preference. My Google Reader is sorted by topic, plus a special folder for commenters on Kikolani.
