Last time this came around I unfollowed everyone using this tag, made a list, and then followed once again on Tuesday when it was all over. As a last resort I just filtered out the tag using the built in feature in TweetDeck, but it’s very limited and so plenty still flooded in. Stop using Twitter until the event is over.

As an alternative, I found jillions (yes, I counted) of listings on craigslist.org for places to rent in the area. They did a fabulous job of juggling room cancellations and the wait-list.
