Ask Yahoo, MySpace or … , all major networks that ruled heavily at one time and all which fell from grace to other up and comers. While I have not experienced their mobile apps outside of Apple devices, their iPhone and iPad apps are horrendous. The fact is, no one is bullet proof.

For years, Twitter has rolled out new features to make its service more like Facebook. But here’s why even a Jack Attack might not save the company from eventual MySpace-ization : Facebook is slowly strangling Twitter at every turn. A rollout of a totally overhauled Notes feature, which now looks and acts remarkably like Medium.

After a few days of messing around with it, the iPad reminds me very much of that remote control with a cord. Most of the chatter leading up to the iPad’s release was around how would it perform against standard computing tasks. I use my iPad instead of my iPhone, not instead of my MacBook. Same with email.

After Google Voice and its third-party apps were turned down by Apple due to “it duplicating features that the iPhone comes with (Dialer, SMS, etc),&# Google built a completely browser-based app , avoiding the restrictions and not having to split the profits. You know what’s not a good idea?

They'll also probably provide native apps for photo sharing and other native-only features of phones so that HTML5 apps can easily tie in and integrate with those features, under Facebook's control. This is also why they'll launch an iPad app - it gives them more control. Kinda reminds me of Myspace - I hope not.

After all, there are millions of other users — like grandma who doesn’t even own an iPad, let alone a computer — who can still harness its potential. Unless you start unveiling new approaches and features that’s why all of the social media platforms are constantly evolving and keep on adding features.

And Myspace has proven that we will invest major sweat into an identity online (way more than anyone has invested on Facebook) and left at the drop of a hat for something better. Someday we will go to restaurants, bars, cafes and coffee shops and there will be ipads or something of the like. Including this move by Starbucks.
