RSS feeds are the blood vessels of the social web. It’s how you read news updates from friends on Facebook and Twitter. You can do this manually with RSS technology. And there are several good monitoring tools: Radian6, Filtrbox, Trackur, SM2 and eCairn. Feeds – The web isn’t about pages any more.

You can also set up various searches from Google, Twitter, etc and run the RSS feeds from each search through Yahoo Pipes and have the resulting feed delivered to your inbox or RSS reader to monitor ongoing.

I wouldn’t say that Traackr is ideal for long-tail blogger outreach but it’s perfect for the sort of cross-platform and cross-channel influencer outreach I am interested in doing, including unboxing reviews on YouTube, Periscope, and Facebook Live, and other Very High Caste engagement where many touches and very close oversight is essential.
