Facebook is showing off a brand new look and as usual everybody’s in a snit about it. That’s even more true in a social network whose users are often less web savvy and thrown by major UI changes as well as concerned about privacy issues. Facebook should focus on it’s strengths and what it’s user base wants.

It’s no shock to anyone who knows me that I’m not a big fan of Facebook. Facebook has made some major strides lately to improve usability and even reporting through their “Facebook insights&#. First off there’s the new admin center to manage your for Facebook pages. What do YOU think?

Of course, we are all aware of the privacy issues now in the news about Facebook and other major networking sites. Now, not many companies harvest as much data as Google, Facebook, Twitter, and others, but we should still take these new rules as good practice. So does Google, Facebook, Twitter and so many others.

It seems that Google is taking on the Facebook like, and +1 buttons will start showing up on web sites so you can like a web site and have it show up in your like stream too. Is it going to stir up another privacy debate? So what’s the downside here? Is this a bad thing? Likely so… What do you think?

A recent AP Newswire story tells the tale of one Justin Bassett who was asked by a hiring manager for his user name on Facebook. Even if they don’t ask for your password you can bet an HR person will have googled you and viewed your profiles on Linkedin,Twitter, Facebook and Google+ at the very least. Privacy online is a myth.

Created your own “museum&# from your Facebook images and videos and the avatars of your friends? Sure enough, if you go back and log in again it will verify with Facebook yet again. The network itself is reminiscent of a mix of the best features of FriendFeed , Facebook and a few other networks, and as Kit Eaton pointed out in her Google+ post on Fast Company the network seems positioned to take over from Foursquare , Instagram , Facebook and maybe even Twitter and Quora. You know who you are.
