It wasn’t until recently however that I realized the potential of utilizing Linked In Groups to drive blog traffic. In comparison, Twitter comes in at 14% and Facebook at 9%. For those of you not using Linked In Groups, here are the steps to take that will immediately give your blog or website a traffic boost.

I wrestled with the idea of creating a Facebook Page for my blog vs. just utilizing my Facebook Profile to promote. It felt a bit vain to me, but I started to sense that I needed to re-visit the issue as more and more people I did not really know wanted to start connecting with me on Facebook professionally.

For the past 6 years, every time the holidays rolls around, a new tradition has come upon me; an outpouring of emails and Facebook messages asking me if I know that my picture comes up on Google for ugly Christmas sweater. A group of fellas that entrusted each other with information that would never be shared outside of the group.

Get Serious About Twitter – Many people just stick with Facebook and never think Twitter is worth their time. Get Active With LinkedIn Groups – Linked In Groups are an often unknown resource that can pay big dividends in a variety of ways. Use tools like Hootsuite , Hootlet and TwitrBackgrounds.com to get up and running.

You get access to usual stats around followers, tweets, mentions and retweets for Twitter as well as fans, comments, mentions and likes for your Facebook page. In addition, Crowdbooster also was able to comb through my following and identify a group of high influencers based on their Klout score that recommended me connecting with as well.

I’ve been wanting to write more about these services, but not until I was able to really give them a good try and for the past few weeks, I’ve immersed myself into really 3 choices, Facebook Places , Foursquare and Whrrl. I love the concept of “societies” which involve real groups of different passions and interests. Tweet This!

What suprised me the most though was the Facebook adoption. Obviously a good thing, and part of that success is certainly the group’s ability to be in the conversations. It’s been a great run, and I’m wrapping up my time with the group. I think they’ll get there.
