Would you say that the masses were responsible for the innovations that are Wikipedia or Linux ? I wonder if we would have hashtags had Messina tweeted out, "maybe together we can think of a way to group conversations together on Twitter?" wikipedia. On the other hand, mass collaboration has been very successful.

Some people think they can just send out a couple of surveys , or do a few focus groups , and gather all the information they need about the public’s opinion about their products. You can set up an alert schedule that lets you know when your keywords are being used to find your web page across the web (even on Facebook).

Too many people come to Telligent, as a platform vendor (yes, we have multiple extensibility points and workflow definitions), and say they “Want Facebook&# for thier website. I’m not convinced there is a lot of evidence in BUSINESS communities that people come to those communities for social networking (like Facebook / MySpace).
