Unfortunately a recent example that illustrates this concept in action is Joe Paterno and the terrible events that allegedly took place at Penn State. While the #1 and #2 organic listings are still a general bio and a Wikipedia page, the news onebox at the top and all eight listings under the embedded image results are related to the scandal.

Foursquare and The New York Times Archive Would Be a Great Match

The recent partnership between Foursquare and Canada’s Metro is a good early example of the potential that exists. Not from a recent Wikipedia entry; from actual news coverage from that time. While different from my archive idea, this is a great example of location-based opportunities for news sites.

The Most Overused Buzzwords and Marketing Speak in Press Releases

So I searched PRWeb ’s press release archive for a selection of overused terms, buzzwords and marketing speak using a “site:prweb.com” search on Google, for example: I opted for Google over PRWeb’s internal search because internal search results are not typically very good. I chose PRWeb over PR Newswire, Business Wire, etc.

I’m not familiar with Fact: but Wikipedia tells me it was published from 1964-1967 and edited by Ralph Ginzburg and Warren Boroson. David Halberstam’s book, The Powers That Be, is filled with examples of how senior editors at Time rewrote Vietnam reporting to meld with Luce’s ideology.
