  • Twitter mobile update bubbles trending events to the top of the Timeline, adds photo editing – Twitter updated its Android app (coming soon for iOS) with new photo editing tools and event surfacing; now when users manually update their feed and there are no new tweets, the app will surface recommended posts, trending topics, and suggestions of who to follow (TechCrunch)
  • Twitter experimenting with pop-up notifications on the web – Twitter is testing another new feature; a notification window that pops up whenever a user receives a reply or mention (Engadget)
  • Twitter tweaks its homepage search – Twitter rolled out new search features on the Twitter.com homepage, allowing users to limit searches with certain categories; in addition, Twitter’s advanced search options are now easier to find (ReadWrite)
  • Twitter offers consulting services for Super Bowl marketers – to help convince marketers to spend money on Twitter advertising, the social platform has been offering free consulting services for large advertisers pre-Super Bowl, including detailed analysis of user data, predicting Internet memes and suggesting targeted keywords for ads (WSJ)
  • Venture will mine Twitter for music’s next big thing – music is the most popular topic on Twitter; this new partnership gives 300 full access to Twitter’s music data, and in exchange 300 will help Twitter organize data and develop software that could be used by other artists, record labels or consumer brands (The New York Times)

Foursquare

  • Get ready to order in from Foursquare – Foursquare has teamed up with an online food delivery company, GrubHub Seamless, to let Foursquare users place an order for delivery directly from the app (Media Bistro)
