I have really cut back recently and really only participate actively in five social networks, below are the five and my reasons for sticking to them. The only way that I keep up with current events and tech news is by looking at one of my lists. Facebook – this is my necessary evil of social networks.

There were a few blogs on the topic ranging from slamming the company to questioning and polling their readers to see if they would be willing to pay for an adless version of the social network. After thinking through the process, I wouldn’t; and don’t think the majority of the billion-plus users of the social network would either.

Nothing like the crisp days I am longing for… Hopefully you had an eventful week full of nothing but goodness and an even better weekend planned. It brings into question as to whether or not LinkedIn comes across worse to users by populating their front page with articles on the globe’s biggest social network.

Heck, it is the reason 90% of people are on a social network – to tell the world how awesome they (or their company) are. I try the whole saying a name back to a person, creating a memory trick like they talk about in Moonwalking with Einstein and associating a person with an event, but none have worked to satisfaction.

Next week is also a short week of sorts as I’ll be headed to Chicago to speak at the WOMMA event as part of the city’s social media week, which I am excited about. Football social network Bantr expands from the UK into Spain and Italy – this is not football, but rather the game we Americans call soccer.

I saw this event unfolding sitting at the airport and was shocked seeing the extent of the inefficiency along with video from Mike Schneider was just, well wow. An iPhone 4S Experience That Would Make Steve Jobs Cringe – not sure if you heard, but the new iPhone came out.

This move was a power play for the largest social network and a potential boon for advertisers looking to tap into the 100 million users of the Facebook mobile application.
