Someone can (and will) connect search to my social profile (say on Facebook) thereby making a truly intelligent search engine that will know where I work, and who my friends are. 24 months from now Social Search should be common place – we should see social tools like Facebook Connect or OpenID which are already out there, used for search.

In the last few months, I have had the privilege of becoming a regular contributor on several multi-author blogs such as Search Engine Journal , Famous Bloggers , Social Media Examiner , Search Engine Watch , and Stay on Search. Groups such as Google (free) or Yahoo (free).

Make your content at least semi-friendly for search engines. Facebook’s opening of the API to searches (and the subsequent inclusion of Facebook content in Google, Bing, Yahoo search results) blunts the historical searchability advantage of Web pages. And a search engine of it's own. It would be a giant spam engine.

Register your site with all the top search engines. Get a Wordpress.com account for its OpenID benefits. Chris, I found the first section immediately valuable, especially the links to Yahoo Site Explorer, CrazyEgg, and Summize - not only for personal branding but for web marketing in general. Be sure to stay aware of those.
