There’s been a lot of noise about Google+. Personally I’ve got a love/hate relationship with Google+. It’s Twitter on steroids. The user interface is getting better but it’s still painful to get in and out unlike sites like Twitter and Facebook which are very manageable through 3rd party apps.

If you’re as into social media networks as I am you’d have to have your head in the sand to miss the launch of Google+ , a shiny new social network from Google. Adding the “ Authorship&# tag &# to syndicated posts will allow users to follow specific authors and list your content on the +1 tab of your Google profile.

I stuck to Twitter posts simply because they’re easier to embed, but most or all of these hashtags appear across social platforms. Probably the most recent oops was #AskThicke which was intended to be a Twitter style Q&A but quickly became a platform to call him out about misogyny, divorce, his hair and his music among other things.

Unfortunately as soon as Aardvark was acquired by Google it pretty much went to. Fluther is another such site and though it seems the team may have jumped ship for Twitter recently, the site is still up and running with questions ranging from “ Should a Vegetarian expect special dishes at a party?

Google won’t love you any more. Duplicate content is becoming a bigger deal with search engines. If your post shows up on a site that gets 2,500 visits a day and you only have 200, which site is Google going to use as the link to your all important post about Empire Avenue ? You guessed it, probably not yours.
