Hey recent PR graduate! Let’s chat

Sherrilynne Starkie

Every year about this time, young graduates email me about PR internships and job opportunities. These messages often come with a request to meet up so they can ask me a few questions about my own career and get some advice. Here’s the questions I usually get: How did you get a start in your career? As a young mother, I was part of a women returners’ group exploring career choices.

Firebelly

I’m surprised at the number of brands who keep making this common social media mistake. The Question That Kills Hype

Small Business Mavericks

Hype can be defined as an intensive promotional campaign that rouses emotions and exaggerates the benefits of a product or service. . You’d think that the exaggeration and noise in a typical infomercial creates sales, but most of us turn the TV off when the shouting starts. Why is that? "Trying it" and "trying to make something work," are two very different actions. Especially when it comes to marketing.

How Design Impacts Blog Readership

ProBlogger

This is a guest contribution from Damion Wasylow. You have things to say, ideas to spread and concepts to share. That’s why you’re a blogger. But, if you’re like most bloggers, you’re much better with words than visuals. As a result, many bloggers’ sites are poorly designed or rely on simple templates. Your content may bring people to your blog, but poor design and usability can seriously limit your readership.
