'The list of the ” Top 25 Free iPhone Apps of All Time ” has, no surprise, social media platforms taking three out of the top five spots. With it’s growing number of over 1.1 billion users worldwide, Facebook came in at number one. Earlier this year, Facebook said it “had 665 million active users each day on average in March, up 26 percent from a year earlier, and 751 million using Facebook from a mobile device each month, up 54 percent,” Yahoo News reported.

'It’s always interesting when a non-technical person sees something technical. I mean, the technical terms oftentimes are like a foreign language to people who are not so technical. Let’s look at what happened when someone who was obviously non-technical suddenly discovered web developer tools. Apparently this person was in Firefox and somehow brought up the Web Developer Web Console, which is available under the “Tools” menu on Firefox.

'As a foodie I was curious to see what foods made Mashable’s “ Top 10 Food Crazes of 2013 ” list. Plus food is in our DNA at Firebelly, which makes this post extremely relevant. I’ve eaten six out of the ten things. But truthfully, what I haven’t eaten on the list doesn’t really bother me. . The Cronut: A croissant-doughnut? I’m not a huge fan of either, so I’m not disappointed that I haven’t had this experience.

That’s right, HBO does not care, whatsoever, where you are watching the fight. HBO failed to renew 16 domain names, all related to “where are you watching” or “where are you watching the fight” I’m not sure if this was part of a planned advertising campaign at some point, or if there was some sort of campaign that they had

'Google Analytics is rolling out a new feature. It’s called Content Grouping. I like this. You simple take a collection of URLs and group them into a content grouping category so that you can view aggregated metrics and analyze them. In other words, you won’t be able to see website traffic and other stats on each page, but you will be able to see the important metrics on the entire group.

'At this point, I have become pretty used to Google encrypting all search queries at Google.com. At least for their organic search results. You just won’t get to see what someone searched for at Google (what keyword they used) when hitting your site. But, apparently Google is not encrypting all search queries. From time to time, if you look at your site’s web analytics, you will notice that there are still some search queries at Google.com that are not encrypted.

'Remember when blog comments were about building links and traffic? That was the early days of blogging. Just about everybody was doing it. Then Google decided not to count blog comments for links. That pretty much shut down the blog-commenting-as-linkbuilding game. But blog comments still hold value. They just don’t hold link building value. The value to be found in blog comments today is in branding.

'Can you imagine a time when most people have tablet computers but no desktops or laptops? According to one survey , the majority of people who own computers would give up their laptop for a tablet. Even more striking, 56% of them would click on an ad on their tablet before clicking on an ad on their PC. Never mind why this is so, but if that’s the direction that computer usage is going in, then it would behoove content marketers to pay close attention.

'AOL’s Patch has been criticized almost to no end as of late, and now the “hunt to own the lucrative local advertising market” is over for AOL. But there are other (smaller, and more efficient) hyper-local apps out there that deserve a closer look. Businesses, pay attention. Nextdoor isn’t a brand new app by modern conceptions of time (site launched in 2011, mobile app in 2012), but it has been well-received by major news outlets.
