Instagram

Instagram Introduces Feed Algorithm to Show Best Posts FirstThe inevitable has happened. Instagram announced that image feeds will be sorted to bring the most interesting or relevant posts first.

The new Instagram algorithm shifts the order of photos and videos in your feed “based on the likelihood you’ll be interested in the content, your relationship with the person posting, and the timeliness of the post.”

Facebook has long had a News Feed algorithm, one that has drawn the ire of users and marketers alike. Twitter has toyed with a formula to surface the most relevant tweets first — and it has allowed the service to sell prime timeline real estate to advertisers. Now, Facebook-owned Instagram is following suit.

Instagram, claiming that people miss 70 percent of the content on their feeds, says it wants to get this right.

How do you feel about a potential Instagram feed algorithm?

Linkedin

LinkedIn Introduces Account TargetingThis new functionality makes it possible for marketers to tailor their Sponsored Updates or Sponsored InMail campaigns to a priority list of accounts. This ability, combined with LinkedIn’s profile targeting, will allow marketers to market products and generate opportunities to the right personas within the accounts that matter most to them. LinkedIn Account Targeting is available to customers purchasing Sponsored InMail and Sponsored Updates through a LinkedIn account representative — Linkedin plans to expand this to self-serve clients over time. Stay tuned…
