'Tweet. One of the things I enjoy most nowadays is having the opportunity to speak to the future leaders of the PR profession when they’re starting out. One of the questions I often get asked is “what tips would you offer to get ahead in this field?” Now that spring has sprung (at least, it’s trying to) and students are turning their minds to life after school, I thought it might be timely to offer some of that advice up here.

' Bytown Sports And Entertainment, the company behind Ottawa’s new NBL franchise, is proof that there is no such thing as bad publicity. The company has just announced that the new basketball team will be called the Ottawa Skyhawks. The announcement comes just a few short weeks after the original name, the Tomahawks, was pulled the day after it was launched due to a social media backlash about name being insulting to First Nations culture.

'Infinite scrolling has been growing in popularity with various forms being utilized on a variety of sites. While there are pros and cons from both a technical and usability perspective, and it hasn’t worked for everyone , in the right situation it can be a good fit. Social sites use infinite scrolling as a way to offer a never-ending stream of new content, and it has appeal for sites that want to offer a seamless browsing experience for large groups of items.

Explosion at the Boston Marathon. Like many people around the world, I stood glued to reports of the terrible bombings in Boston yesterday. I saw the early reports emerge on Twitter, and soon enough there was almost nothing else in my feeds.

'Facebook is beginning to roll out the new timeline design for personal profiles for more users. If you haven’t looked at your profile yet, you should go check it out now. It may look similar to this. Basically, your updates, updates posted to your wall by others, and updates you are tagged in show up on the right column. All of the stuff that was previously beneath your timeline cover photo (about, friends, photos, places, notes, etc.) are in the left column.

'Yes, I know the title of this post sounds harsh. But to be honest with you, that is my conclusion now that I have seen this. It’s solid proof that the right keyword rich domain name will out-rank a hyphenated domain name in the search results every time. silktide did an SEO challenge where they used 3 different domain names and web sites and saw if nonsensical content or real keyword rich content would rank better.

'Regions Bank , an FDIC insured bank with 1,700 branches and 2,400 ATMs across a 16-state network in the South, Midwest, and Texas, failed to renew their domain name. As a result, their web site is down.
