Jennifer Aniston Joins Instagram With Photo Of ‘Friends’ Cast

This article is more than 4 years old.

The cast of “Friends” is the first photo on Jennifer Aniston’s new Instagram page.

“And now we’re Instagram FRIENDS too. HI INSTAGRAM 👋🏻,” the actress wrote on her first-ever post. Within an hour, more than 600,000 people liked the post and 140,000 people followed her. Additionally, reports of Aniston's post crashing Instagram circulated hours after launching her account due to the high traffic to her post.

Sunday, Aniston spoke to ET about whether she’d ever join the social media platform saying, “What you resist, persists. It's something that is a part of our world now and it's not going away.”

"You can actually have a little bit more control over the narrative that's out there," Aniston told ET’s Brooke Anderson. "[You can] right some wrongs and some silly things that, God knows, are said often."

Aniston also said that her friends, Reese Witherspoon and former “Friends” castmates Lisa Kudrow and Courtney Cox, influenced her to join the platform. Kudrow has also been seen using #comeonalreadyjen in comments and posts about the show’s 25-year reunion.

Later Tuesday, Witherspoon welcomed Aniston to the social media platform with a post captioned, "How's that for morning news?! @jenniferaniston has joined the @instagram world and now I can finally tag her in FRIENDS memes. Welcome Jen! 💞"
