Pornhub’s Big Package Gives 100 Small Businesses Billions Of Free Ad Impressions

This article is more than 3 years old.

Over 100k small businesses have been shuttered due to the Covid-19 pandemic. To add fuel to the fire, the Federal government gave millions of dollars away to billionaires through PPP loans meant for small businesses. This kind of behavior destroys an economy. Loaning money to small business, to individuals struggling, keeps that money flowing. Giving it to billionaire founded organizations disappears that money. It's a waste.

Since small businesses can't rely on the Federal government for anything besides a cold shoulder, Pornhub is here to help, at least a little bit. Today it's launching its Big Package For Small Business campaign (SFW link), intended to assist small business recovery with free advertising space. While Pornhub couldn't resist slipping a pun in the name of this initiative, the opportunity for a selection of small businesses to receive one billion ad impressions worth of free advertising cannot be understated. This is expensive, extremely visible ad space so if you are a small business, better get that website and online store cleaned up.

“To give a little extra love and support to small businesses during this uncertain time, our “Big Package” for small businesses will give small businesses the opportunity to tap into our audience of 130 million daily visitors and gain the exposure they deserve during the pandemic," said Corey Price, VP, Pornhub. "Bolstering an eclectic user base made up of various demographics, businesses that advertise with us are not only able to connect with their target audience, but enhance their overall brand visibility — especially during this time when the world is more digitally connected than ever."

Pornhub will ultimately offer this free advertising to 100 small businesses selected by an internal panel with representatives from Pornhub's marketing, advertising and sales teams. Obviously some selections will be based on type of business and product. The only noted qualifying factor however is that businesses must have 100 or less employees to be considered (and can be located anywhere in the world). Pornhub will then create a series of customized ads for each business selected, served by TrafficJunky (an online ad platform that serves ads on adult sites) and strategically placed across the website based on geographical demographics and other factors.

It should be noted that smaller, yet also porn-focused company, Stripchat launched a similar initiative last month. While similar, the Pornhub campaign offers a much larger audience base and is utilizing digital advertising, rather than integrating with its models. The only criticism one might levy is that with the relatively small amount of eligible businesses, it feels as much a marketing stunt as it does an act of small business altruism. Regardless, it's better than doing nothing and more effective than the Federal government thinking it's doing something.

Not only is Pornhub once again stepping up to help in the void created by an incompetent Federal response, but this Canadian-owned porn company is setting a solid track record in corporate altruism in the midst of a pandemic. To this point, Pornhub has sent 15,000 surgical masks to NYC Local 2507 first responders, 15,000 masks to the Uniformed Firefighters Association Local 94 of NYC, 20,000 surgical masks to Mount Sinai South Nassau, spent €50,000 for European companies to purchase additional masks dropped $25,000 to Sex Workers Outreach Project (SWOP) for sex worker relief funding. Pornhub has also donated $10,000 to the Free Speech Coalition's emergency fund, launched parody site Scrubhub to gather donations for food-related charities Invisible Hands and Frontline Foods and ran a cheeky campaign to encourage physical distancing.
